When Winter and Spring Meet.
31st January 2021
Last Sunday ‘winter met spring’ when it snowed on the recently blossomed daffodil. Winter and spring are not supposed to meet like this. It seemed like the seasons were out of sync. But it happened. It is like our lives/our souls. Sometimes we can be in the season of Spring but experiencing aspects of the darkness and heaviness of Winter. Other times, we can be in Winter but experience the lightness, the joy, the freshness of Spring. It doesn’t seem to make sense, but it happens. But just as in the world of nature the seasons get a little ‘mixed up’ so it can be in our lives. The same God who allows it to happen in the natural world, allows it to happen in our lives/our souls. And just as the fragile little daffodil survived the snow, God is there to help us make it through when the seasons of our lives get ‘mixed up’.
This week it seemed like that daffodil was standing taller, stronger somehow. Maybe it was because when the snow melted, it soaked into the ground and nourished the root of the daffodil. And so, for us, many times the winter experiences actually sink down into our souls to nourish us and help us blossom like a daffodil in early Spring. So, when the seasons of our lives get ‘mixed up’, lets trust the ‘Controller of the Seasons’ to do what He wants or needs to do in our lives.
“He changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.” Daniel 2:21
Let us be wise and discerning to understand what He is doing in our lives!
