I have created this space to share the experiences of my life that reflect my heart as I journey with God on the exciting path that He continues to lead me and guide me along.
Hi I’m Laura. I want to share here reflections from some areas that not only interest me but form part of my life. I am currently living in Nairobi, Kenya serving with Nairobi Chapel, a church with church planting as part of its DNA. My journey to get here has taken years of experiences which have included 27 years serving churches in Spain both locally and nationally. The journey has allowed me to develop vision and passion for different aspects of ministry from children’s work to teens, youth and then youth leaders. I have always had a vision for God’s mission in our world and as I got involved myself, I have wanted to encourage and help others capture that vision and participate in it themselves.
Practical experiences have always been important and transformative for me personally and so I love encouraging others to gain real life experiences which I know can transform their lives. I hosted many young people who came to help serve in the ministries I led in Spain. I then began to take Spaniards to experience life and ministry in other countries and cultures. Organising camps, events and conferences have all been part of my ministry. I love encouraging people to discover and use their gifts, especially in God’s mission. I was able to do this in the ministries I was involved with in Spain within the Federation of churches I served with; developing the National Youth Ministry and serving as National Youth Coordinator, serving on the Mission’s Board, serving on the leadership team and then as Director of National Missions Conference, Misión Posible, as well as serving in the local church.
I developed a vision for church planting and saw the potential for young people to get involved and have an impact, while developing their faith and giftings. Some friends, with the same vision, formed a team to develop this vision in Spain. We also took part in a year-long mentorship programme that led to my contact with Nairobi Chapel in Kenya. A visit in 2015 led to God calling me to serve there. I left Spain in 2016 and moved to Kenya in 2018.
My background and education was in Business Management and Administration and Law before going on to train at Belfast Bible College. I later graduated with an MA in Theology: Pastoral Studies from the University of Wales, Lampeter. I recently completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Missional Leadership from York St John University. I love study and research and I am currenting doing some for my current ministry in Kenya which is to help train Africans for cross-cultural ministry (what some call ‘Reverse Mission’).
I have also developed an interest in Spiritual Formation/Soul Care and you can see that in that section and through my photography.
